About
Thongs represent youth, freedom and fun, all things that young Australians have the right to experience. Youngcare’s first national awareness day on October 1 will see Aussie’s around the nation don their best pluggers and celebrate what it means to be young.
There are 6,500 young Australians with full-time care needs currently living in aged care simply because there are few alternatives. A further 700,000 are being cared for at home by family and friends.
Youngcare exists to drive change to create real choice in care and accommodation options for young Australians with full-time care needs. And Thong Day is the first step in raising awareness of this issue on a national platform.
How you celebrate Thong Day is up to you – get your workplace onboard, host an ’Office-a-Thong’ and collect donations from everyone who replaces their pumps with pluggers. Or invite all your friends over for a ‘Ping Pong-a-Thong’. Get creative with your theming and get inspired by our ‘a-Thong’ ideas. Whether you’re a lone thonger or a Thong-a-Thon host, you can start your own Everyday Hero online fundraising page and get your friends to donate to your noble cause. Whatever type of Thong-A-Thon you choose to do, do it in thongs - you’ll feel young and free, how every young Australian should.
