Thong Day Kicks Off
We can’t think of anything better to get the endorphins flowing than a dance in your thongs while raising awareness of the lack of appropriate care and accommodation options for young Australians with full-time care needs. Youngcare officially launched Thong Day 2010 with a Dance-a-thong in the heart of Brisbane in the Queen Street Mall. The students from Trevor Green dance school showed surprised onlookers how they could don a pair of pluggers for Thong Day – Youngcare’s first national awareness day on October 1 – and have some fun while supporting the Youngcare cause.
Hosting a Thong Day event and inviting all your friends and colleagues to don their thongs is the first step in raising awareness of Youngcare’s cause.
If you think you can out-dance our dance-a-thongers, check out their moves on Channel Nine’s Today Show.
Or if choreography or coordination is not your forte, you can come up with your own Thong-a-thon to host in support of young people with 24/7 care needs – be it a ‘ping pong-a-thong, a ‘cook-a-thong’, or even an ‘office-a-thong’.
Once you’ve planned your event, register it at www.thongday.com.au or call 1300YOUNGCARE.
